There are several ways to adjust the shifting on your 3 speed hub. Attached is also a video that can give you the basics as well.
Method 1:
- Place the shifter into #3
- Remove the dust cover from the shifter mechanism at the hub.
- There are two cable tension barrels. Remove the slack in the cable with the one nearest the front of the bike. Around 4-5 threads should be showing on the back side of the adjuster.
- Use the micro adjuster (smaller one) to tighten the cable just enough to see the little chain that goes into the inside of the hub to move slightly.
- Tighten the lock nuts on the cable
- Replace the dust cover
- Test ride!
Method 2:
- Place the shifter into #2
- Remove the dust cover
- Where the chain enters the hub axle is a round sight hole.
- Adjust the cable until the push rod begins to appear in the sight hole
- Tight the lock nuts up on the cable
- Replace the dust cover
- Test ride!
